Oh Edward, you dazzle me.

dazzleglass

Oh sod off Edward Cullen, MAC dazzleglass is where the real dazzling’s at! It’s Mother Day today and one of the presents I got my mom was a tube of Dazzleglass in Stop! Look! from the new Double Dazzle collection. Double Dazzle is basically a repromote of last year’s Dazzleglass collection with the addition of more pastel shades.

My mom actually bought a tube from last year’s collection, finished it in two months and has always asked me to get her another tube but alas Dazzleglasses were limited edition at that time (I think they still are? I’m not sure – God, I’m such a horrid beauty blogger lol) so there was no chance of her getting another tube until now, of course.

She’s quite happy with the Dazzleglass I bought her but…

Mom: They’re selling these again?
Me: Yep, MAC came out with another collection of the lipglosses you like.
Mom: And you only bought me ONE?! Don’t you know I use this up like water?!

Haha mom, haha.

Well today we went out to celebrate Mother’s Day and we made a detour to MAC so she could get another tube of Dazzleglass. I find it interesting that my mom who usually sticks to nude, pink lips would be in love with Dazzleglass.

A MAC lipgloss formulation not for the shy. They are extremely sparkly with a thick consistency which makes sure that it’ll last through your coffee, ice-cream and martini with the girls. Touch-ups are just rendered unnecessary.

I finally rekindled my lost passion with my old tube of Dazzleglass in Spankin’ Rich today and wore it out.

me

Just some MAC studiofix foundation in NC25, MAC blonde’s gold pigment all over my lids, eyes lined with Clinique’s cream eyeshaper in Egyptian, MAC mineral duo blush in Moon River and MAC Dazzleglass in Spankin’ Rich. Really simple and I went mascara-less today hah! Wasn’t really in the mood to face removing my mascara after a long day out.

dazzle

And this is just how sparkly they are! Look at all that shimmery micro-glitter reflecting in the sunlight! mmmmm.

Top: Rags to Riches, Bottom: Money Honey (Mom’s)

My dad was in a good mood so before he paid for mom’s Dazzleglass, he asked if I wanted anything as well. And honestly, I’m quite happy with my make-up collection right now i.e there’s nothing I really really really *need* BUT HEY NOONE SHOULD REFUSE FREE MAKE-UP RIGHT?! (Unless there’s an ulterior motive involved then you have to back off girls, I know it’s hard when you see all them shim’mer and glit’ter but you got to think of your safety first) So I got myself another tube of Dazzleglass in Rags to Riches which is a gorgeous light cool toned pink with lilac shimmer.

roseromance

So before I end this post, did anyone get anything from the oh so enchanting A Rose Romance collection? It’s funny, I really thought I would be tempted to get a few items from the collection but in the end I only bought the gel blush which I didn’t buy for myself! I gave it as a THANK YOU I LOVE YOU SO MUCH present to Nadz.

And to all mothers, borrowing a rather inappropriate line from Katy Perry (I know the song’s geared towards stupid boys but I thought I could apply it to my relationship with my mother so shut up.)

We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up

Happy Mother’s Day! <3

Tried out a new blush today from the same company which makes cosmetics for Napoleon Perdis.

gangstaa

And this entry will not be complete without mah gangstaaaaaaa face. I will eat you alive bitchez.

I am very much what you may call a green eyeshadow obsessed person, I have about 9 green eyeshadows in my collection, all varying shades from emerald green to the brightest funkiest leafy-green. Green is definitely one of my no-fail colors because it makes brown eyes pop like no other color can and I think it’s just refreshing to use a dirty smouldering green for a smokey eye look instead of just the usual black.

MAC Hello Kitty & dreams of Moon River.

Friday. 13th March 2009. Hello Kitty officially launches in Singapore after a successful pre-launch the week before.

Monday. 9th March 2009.

“Hello, MAC Takashimaya, X speaking.”
“Hi, I’m calling regarding the Hello Kitty collection? Is it alright if I reserve-”
“Oh I’m sorry but we don’t take reservations for the Hello Kitty Collection.”

GODDAMMIT. It looks like I have to probably wrestle my way through the the throngs of people who are probably just buying MAC x Hello Kitty make-up because it’s OMG HELLO KITTY I HAVE TO BUY IT I DON’T KNOW HOW TO APPLY MAKE-UP BUT WHATEVER! IT’S HELLO KITTY! I MUST HAVE IT OR I’D JUST DIE FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO OWN A PIECE OF CUTENESS!! Whatever man.

It was Friday 13th March 2009, I made my way to the MAC counter at Tangs Orchard because it’s the most popular outlet in Singapore (I have no idea why, don’t ask) so I figured they would have more stocks over there. Well, I was wrong.

EVERYTHING WAS SOLD OUT! Except for Kitty Couture but no way in hell was I going to spend like whut, 90 bucks on a silver hello kitty swarovski crystal studded sheer mystery powder compact?! Helloooo?! Ok ok, so it was really pretty and cute but NO! I will only get what I came for AND THAT’S THE HELLO KITTY SHE LOVES CANDY LIPGLASS!

I fell in love with it instantly the moment I saw photos of it online, a pale candy pink lipgloss with blue, green iridescence – such a unique color and I MUST. MUST. MUST. HAVE IT!

So I had the SA at MAC call the Takashimaya counter and ZOMG they had 7 tubes left!! The SA reserved that lipglass for me but the catch was that I had to get my ass over to Takashimaya pronto or they’d have to sell my lipglass off to the next person that comes along. NO FERRR-REAKKING WAY, I’ve waited far too long for this *amazing* lipglass to let some UNWORTHY bitchnezz buy it and slather it all over her icky dry, scaly lips ick.

So I practically flew to Takashimaya with my magic fairy hello kitty wings which shimmer in the light and marched straight to the MAC store.

I was a MAC whore with a mission – to get my lipglass by any means necessary.

I went to the counter and AHHH OMGGGGG my lipglass, neatly tucked behind the counter and labeled with my name! The scary thing was when I bought my lipglass, the SA told me that they had only 3 lipglasses left in the shade I wanted. I was speechless, 7 tubes of lipglass down to 3 in a span of 10 minutes? Overzealous, indeed.

It was an amazing feeling, forking out 28 bucks for something I thought I never could have (no thanks to overzealous hello kitty crazed Singaporeans)…it felt just like buying a pair of fierce 4″ heels.

Ok, enough ~~~drama~~~ and let’s move on to pretty make-up!

haul

My mini haul! I got myself 2 other items as well, a new brow set and..MOON RIVER from the grand duos blush collection. Tres excited about this one! I tried it out a week before I bought it and I couldn’t get it out of my head! If you have fair skin, this would be another blush perfect for your complexion! It’s like a shot of pale dolly pink accented with silver shimmer, a blush and a highlight all in one pan.

moonriver
Can I just squeal about how pretty it is again? Look at that dreamy swirl of baby pink, blue and peach *_*

hk-lipglass1
And here’s my Hello Kitty lipglass – the packaging is too cute!

hk-lipglass2

It looks so yummy, like melted shimmery rock candy for your lips!

browset

My new brow set in Girl Boy! I’ve not used up my browset in Beguile (taupey brown) yet to be honest but since this was repromoted with the Blonde Brunette Redhead collection, I tried it out and felt that it suited me better. It’s a rich caramel shade and I just love it.

girlboy

I have to say I love the name “Girl Boy” It’s so risque and suggestive *coughs*

me1

I tried out my new make-up during the weekend. I kept it simple and natural, using the make-up I had in my make-up essentials post because I was rushing out to meet my cousin so I had no time to do any funky, crazy stuff.

me2

Close up shot of Moon River on my cheeks! The color is subtle but you can build it up ;D

I would recommend that you guys check out the Grand Duos collection at your MAC counters. Don’t even bother swatching them on your hand because the color might look different on your skin so get a MAC make-up artist to try it on you. When I first swatched Moon River on my hand, I wasn’t impressed – it was just a silver mess but on the cheeks, instant pretty!

My natural FOTD:

MAC Studio Fix foundation in NC25
MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW25

MAC paintpot in Rubenesque
Clinique cream eyeshaper in Egyptian
Majolica Majorca Lash Expander NEO
MAC Browset in Girl Boy

Lyk omg, first make-up tutorialz

I’ve been feeling guilty lately because I’ve not really been posting a lot of beauty-related entries so here’s a fairly simple make-up tutorial to compensate that lol. I apologise for the poor images, the light in my bathroom wasn’t working properly so the pictures aren’t really as clear as day. Here’s what we’re going to achieve today:

Today’s look would be a neutral eye look with some dramatic lips, great for everyday, yet simple and fast enough for OH SHIT I WOKE UP LATE BUT STILL WANNA LOOK HOT mornings. I’ve listed what I used in the photo below but please take note that the Rubenesque paintpot i used isn’t in the photo because I seem to have misplaced the damn thing lol.

make-up

You don’t have to use the exact same products I’ve used of course. You mainly need a gold shimmery eye color, some bronze pigment, eyeliner, mascara and a lovely rich dramatic matte lipstick in a color of your choice. It’s really about what colors you’re comfortable with and what you think will look good on you. My instructions are here just to inspire you into creating your own individual look.

pigments

Here’s a close up shot of the pigments I used. As mentioned, you don’t have to use the exact same products I used. If you’ve got similar colors, use them instead!

11

Ewww my eyes with no concealer and foundation. I have pretty dark under eye circles so MAC studio finish concealer is the way to go.

21

Much better. We’re all set and ready to rock them eye make-up.

3

So first, I applied MAC Rubenesque paintpot on my eyelids, past the crease, as a base for the eye make-up. It’ll make sure my make-up won’t budge and the peachy-gold shade Rubenesque comes in makes it a great add-on for the bronzy gold look I’m doing.

4

Then apply Pure Luxe pigment in Chocomint (a gorgeous mid brown shade with green-gold reflects) onto the lids, past the crease.

5

Not so hot…but don’t despair! We’re not quite done yet lol. Take the Shroom eyeshadow or any other pale shimmery off-white color you have and apply it to your browbone as a highlight, blending it into the Chocomint pigment.

61

Almost there, people!

7

This is where I realised I was going to be late for work if I didn’t finish up quickly. I lined my upper and lower lids with Clinique cream shaper for eyes in Egyptian (gorgeous, gorgeous deep khaki with gold shimmer) and soften the eyeliner on the bottom with some Museum bronze pigment loaded on an eyeliner brush for a touch of smoke~

end

Grab a fluffy brush and put on some blush! Mellow rave is a matte rose brown shade and top it all off with a dramatic nude color, my pick today would be NYX round lipstick in Doll. And you’re all set!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my first ever tutorial, it’s fairly easy I believe- even for beginners. The next look I’m doing would be perhaps be slightly more difficult, we’ll see. Got a question, a suggestion? Comment!

Disclaimer: I am not a professional make-up artist and don’t claim to be. My techniques may be different from a professional but they work for me. Make-up is all about playing with colors and there are no real set of rules in the make-up world, you just go along with what works for you. I am entitled to my own opinions as much as you are entitled to yours.

A thought on blushes + MAC grand duos collection.

I’ve been a little obsessed with blushes lately. I know most people just stop at having one blush shade or god forbid, no blushes in their make-up collection at all! I believe that blush is an essential make-up item and having more than just one shade of blush lets you pull off a variety of looks. Say you have some pretty natural eye make-up on and using a slightly darker blush (applied with a light hand, of course) would give you a more dramatic look. Using a light pink blush, however, would enhance your natural eye make-up and give you an everyday flush. It’s sexy either way.

Most people use bronzers to contour their cheekbones but most bronzers nowadays are pretty shimmery so if you’re not careful you could end up like a glitter tranny mess. Definitely not hot. Another alternative is to go to the make-up counters at your mall and pick the scariest shade of blush there….which would most likely be either
a dark burgundy red or a dark chocolate brown. Please don’t get the red one, nobody contours with red…unless of course it’s for a macabre costume party. The chocolate brown shade would be perfect for contouring but of course it all depends on your skintone.

MAC is coming up with a limited edition collection of blushes due to be released in March in the US. I FRICKING CAN’T WAIT FOR IT. Everyone knows MAC is pretty famous for their Mineralize Skinfinish (MSF), multicolored minerals individually baked onto a pan in a kiln in Italy – sooo hardcore. They can be used for many things, as a highlight, blush whatever – they just rock. MAC’s out to get my money next month when they release these dual blushes – half of a blush pot with straight up shimmery color and the other half has got a similar MSF to match the blush. Mix them up or use them separately, enjoy the pictures but remember, nothing beats looking at the actual products themselves.

I am all over Moon River! Such an uncommon color, the six year old in me loves it because of it’s almost rainbow-like spectrum of colors…..kinda like the Paddlepop rainbow ice cream LOL. So tell me, which shades are you guys just loving?

Lipstick Party

So after a lot of buzz on Youtube on NYX round lipsticks, I finally placed an order in a Cherryculture.com spree for 5 lippies just to try them out. NYX lipsticks are awesomely cheap (They used to cost USD$0.99 but it’s been marked up to $2.00 – still cheap tho) and come in more than a hundred shades I kid you not.

They come in different finishes as well, from matte to shimmer so if you’re new to make-up or just want to add more lip colors to your collection, NYX is the way to go.

I went to google the ass out of these lipsticks to look for swatches because we all know how accurate the colors on the website can be. You think you’ve placed an order for a muted pink lipstick but what you get in the mail could be shocking fuchsia, not hot so it’s best to look for swatches online. There a couple of video swatches on Youtube so go check it out if you’re interested.

I placed an order for the lipstick shades in Thalia, Doll, Lala, Indian Pink & Topaz.

thalia

Thalia is a gorgeous gorgeous nude shade which I am SO IN LOVE WITH. I swear since I’ve gotten this, I’ve been using it everyday lol.

It’s kinda like a brown-pink with a slight almost undetectable lilac undertone. It neutralises my lips pretty well so loveeeee it. Thalia’s a matte lipstick and it goes on really pigmented + creamy!

indianpink

Unlike Thalia, Indian Pink (btw what a pretty name omg!) is a lipstick with shimmer…kinda like MAC’s lustre lipsticks. It’s quite a versatile shade and is universally flattering in my opinion.

It’s a rosey pink with gold shimmer. It actually reminds me of MAC’s melon and rose pigments so if MAC ever created a lipstick based on those two pigments, you’d be sure it’ll look like Indian Pink.

lala

Lala’s another matte shade. When I first saw the swatch online, I was really blown away by how unique the color was. On the swatch it appeared as a rather unique cool toned deep pink and dude, you have no idea how weird this shade is.

In the tube, it appears as a dark pink – almost violet actually. When I swatched it, it appears as a deep pink and when I tried it on my lips HOLY CRIPES LOL, please do not buy this guys…it was fricking purple on my lips. Def not wearable.

doll

I’ve not actually tried Doll and Topaz yet but I’m sure they won’t be as weird as Lala (fingers crossed!) Doll’s kinda like a deep pink with cool undertones and Topaz is a shimmery ruby shade with gold shimmer yumm!

Swatches are at the bottom!

topaz
swatch

Overall, I really like the NYX round lipsticks. They’re cheap, come in a variety of shades to suit each skintone and are quite pigmented!

The lipsticks have sort of a lovely tea rose scent, which kinda reminds me of the old perfumes they used back then. I’m quite happy with the lipsticks I got, although Lala is really odd but hey! It’s only $2.00 so there’s not really much of a loss there!
