MAC STYLE BLACK Part Deux: The Makeover

Ok I need to type this in 10 minutes flat because my cousin, Nadz, is power-napping next to me and she’ll kill me if she finds out that I have her photos all over my blog lol.

I’ve had a pretty rough friday: fell sick, had to cancel my dinner date, slipped and fell down three steps down the stairs and my butt has a ginormous bruise the size AND color of a mini eggplant - not cute. I had a sleepover planned with Nadz the following day (her birthday is coming and we thought of celebrating it earlier) so I was determined to get well, downed what must have been a million pills and went to sleep, hoping that I would wake up happy & healthy.

…AND I DID! So yay! I’m having a great time with my girl, we went shopping earlier to get Japanese snacks (omg these little honey + vanilla biscuits from Japanese snack brand, BOURBON - it’s like honey stars on crack so so good) and to get ingredients for panna cotta! It’s our tradition to try cooking something we’ve never made before everytime we have a sleepover so you can expect an entry on that soon haha. We’ve already made the decadent dessert and it’s currently chilling happily in the fridge ;D

Nadz finally got her MAC Style Black eyeshadow from me today and I thought hey, this just calls for a makeover! Plus I owe you guys a beauty entry anyway - perfect timing!

You have NO idea how reluctant she was, you would have thought you know after practically knowing me her entire life, she would have a greater sense of trust in me but nooooo, the girl was sulking and squirming the whole time I did her make-up…until she took a look at the end result LOL!

I wanted to go for a subtle smokey eyed look that was suitable for the day so I combined Nadz’s sooty gold-black eyeshadow with richer shades of olive green and light gold. Nadz usually doesn’t use lipstick so I forced some midtone pink-red lipstick on her lips to make things interesting holaaa!

I’m happy you think it suits her! It does, doesn’t it? ;D

Lol of course, black is always the foolproof color for eyeliner! I think lining the upper lif with liquid eyeliner makes it more glamorous…that’s just me haha. Enjoy your MUFE eyeliners!

I’m sorry but that’s not how you do makeup. The look is not blended, there’s no contour or shape to the eyes. It looks like someone slap on some mud on her eyes. What a waste on some beautiful MAC shadows.

I’m not a make-up artist and I don’t claim to be one. Make-up to me isn’t about following rules because really where’s the fun in that? Thank you for your criticism, I’m sorry you didn’t like the look but hey you win some, you lose some and that’s life for you.

hi i’ve been reading your blog for the past hour and i don’t usually post comments on blogs but after reading what Sarah’s comment, i think i should just write a few of my own opinions.

i think it’s really fun what u’re doing, writing about beauty and whatever u like, it appeals to girls our age but of course u’re not perfect and everyone else isn’t either. I actually liked the make-up in this entry, i think it was well-blended as opposed to what Sarah said but of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. you are not a professional make-up artist duh but u know what, who cares? u’re just having fun, u take really good photographs and heck i can’t even apply make-up as good as u so just keep up the good work!

Hello again. Thing is, you don’t have to be a makeup artist to do good makeup. It was from this sentence “the girl was sulking and squirming the whole time I did her make-up…until she took a look at the end result” that I thought you should know how lousy you are at making someone up and frankly speaking, at yourself too. Everyone has an opinion and I’m sorry to hear about yours. That’s life for all of us.

On another note, I wasn’t actually trying to offend you in any way. I did take a look at some other entries and I thought you have amazing photography.

    @ Sarah
I wasn’t offended actually if you reread my comment, you would know I have no ill attention against you. I respect your opinion but it doesn’t stop me from continuing with my hobby.

You don’t like the way I put on make-up? That’s fine because I like it the way it is, good or bad ;D If you’re better at make-up than me, that’s awesome for you! There are other people who are better at make-up than me and other people who may be worse off but it doesn’t matter because we’re all learning to be better.

Anyway, thank you for liking my photography - at least there’s something that you like lol.

Wow, hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to actually write a comment since you’ve said you don’t do it often.

I agree with what you said because I really am having fun writing my entries and even if you don’t think you can apply make-up as good as me, there’s no reason you shouldn’t try!

I was sulking and squirming not because I don’t have faith in Ilyana’s make-up but I dislike it when people put make up on me and taking photos. She is awesome in whatever she does and this blog is about what she is passionate about. It’s fun and people may or may not gain anything from reading it but I personally love it to bits and pieces.

Why so serious~ It’s just make-up and some people do enjoy her blog. :)

PS: I love you cousin! <3

LOL you tell it like you’ve got it girllll.

Ikrrrr it’s just make-up, not like it’s some serious political matter that would affect the entire planet.

love you too, meet up soon? xx
